About Taylor

Registered Social Worker | Child & Youth Mental Health Therapist

Hi! My name is Taylor, and I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Clinical Specialization in Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health. My passion lies in working with children, youth, and their families to foster collaborative therapeutic relationships that create a strong foundation for growth and transformation. I’ve worked in frontline social work for several years, supporting children, youth, and families navigating complex situations, including trauma, abuse, sexual violence, developmental concerns and diagnoses, neurodiversity, and mental health challenges.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Emotional Regulation
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Behavioral Struggles
  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Parent-Child Relationship
  • Parenting Challenges
  • Self-Esteem
  • Family & Relational Dynamics
  • Social Skills & Bullying
  • Peer Relationships
  • ADHD Support (Not Assessments)

How I Support Clients

My practice centers on first establishing a trusting relationship with my clients through a trauma-informed, client- and family-centred approach that creates safety in the therapy space. I carefully adapt treatment to each individual client, based on a thorough initial bio-psycho-social assessment and the hopes and goals of the families I work with. I draw on my training and knowledge of child and adolescent development, and utilize evidence-based therapy approaches. When working with children and youth, I emphasize the involvement of caregivers as part of the therapy process to not only fully support the child or youth but also foster sustainable growth outside the therapy room.

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I individually tailor my therapeutic approach by meeting my clients where they are at and acknowledging all areas of their lives. The approaches I draw most upon and integrate into my practice include:

  • Therapeutic Play
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Trauma-Focused CBT
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Attachment-Based

I hold a Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills from the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute, along with a Certificate in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. I have also completed multiple different learning opportunities contributing to my competence in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, behaviour struggles, emotional expression and regulation, neurodiversity, and parent-child relationships.

I know that therapy can be intimidating for anyone. I give special consideration to the children and youth I work with, creating a warm, playful environment where they can fully express themselves and find enjoyment in attending sessions.

Education, Training, & Experience

I attended MacEwan University and obtained my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2021, completing two practicum placements at child and family-focused agencies. I later attended the University of Calgary and obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW) with a Clinical Specialization in Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health in 2024, completing a clinical placement as a student therapist for the Child Abuse Team at the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.
