Navigating Through Difficult Times with Compassion

At Level Up Wellness Group, we understand that separation and divorce can be complex and emotionally challenging for individuals, couples, and families. Our team of specialized therapists provides comprehensive support at every stage of the process, from contemplation to finalization and beyond, ensuring that each person receives the guidance needed to navigate this transition.

Comprehensive Pre-Separation and Divorce Support for Adults and Families

Relationship and Pre-Separation Counselling

Many couples experience distress in their relationship but are uncertain whether separation is the right decision. Research indicates that the average couple remains unhappy for six years before seeking help. Early intervention through counselling can improve communication, strengthen bonds, and help couples make informed decisions.

Our therapists provide:

  • Relationship Counselling: Helping couples explore their issues, improve communication, and work towards healthier relationships.
  • Separation Counselling: Assisting couples in preparing for a respectful and collaborative transition.

Individual Support for Adults

Divorce is not only a legal process but also an emotional and psychological one. Our therapists provide individual counselling to support adults through the entire journey:

  • Pre-Divorce Emotional Support: Helping individuals process emotions, clarify their decisions, and prepare for change.
  • Navigating the Divorce Process: Providing coping strategies for managing stress, legal decisions, and co-parenting.
  • Post-Divorce Adjustment: Assisting in rebuilding life after divorce, addressing grief, self-identity, and future relationships.

Support and Help for Children and Teens Cope with Divorce

Children and adolescents often experience a range of emotions during their parents’ separation or divorce, including disbelief, anxiety, grief, confusion, guilt, and anger. Our specialized therapists offer:
  • Counselling for Children and Teens: Creating a safe space for young individuals to express their feelings and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Parental Guidance: Assisting parents in effectively communicating with their children about the separation to reduce self-blame and emotional distress.
  • Transition Support: Helping children adjust to new family dynamics, living arrangements, and co-parenting structures.

Navigating Life After Divorce: Post-Separation and Divorce Intervention

After separation or divorce, restructuring family dynamics is crucial for the well-being of all members. Our specialized services include:

  • Post-Separation Mediation: Assisting in resolving co-parenting conflicts and fostering healthier communication.
  • Parenting Coordination: Supporting the development of parenting plans that prioritize the well-being of children.
  • Therapeutic Family Counselling: Helping family members adjust to new roles and relationships.
  • Co-Parenting Support: Educating and coaching parents on effective co-parenting strategies to ensure stability for children.

Why Divorce Counselling Matters: The Impact of Divorce and the Role of Counselling

Understanding the prevalence of divorce can provide reassurance and highlight the importance of seeking support:

  • National Divorce Rates: Approximately 40% of marriages in Canada end in divorce.
  • Global Divorce Trends: Canada has a divorce rate of 2.1 per 1,000 people, ranking 26th among 107 surveyed countries.

Counselling during and after separation offers significant benefits:

  • Improved Communication: Reducing misunderstandings and conflicts between separating partners.
  • Conflict Resolution Strategies: Facilitating amicable settlements and co-parenting arrangements.
  • Emotional Processing: Supporting individuals in coping with grief, anger, and stress.
  • Child-Centered Support: Ensuring children have a structured and supportive environment during the transition.

Voice of the Child Reports – Elevating Children’s Perspectives

At Level Up Wellness Group, we recognize that children are often the quiet witnesses in high-conflict separations. Our Voice of the Child (VOC) assessments give children a safe, neutral space to express how they’re experiencing family transitions. These reports offer the legal system a developmentally appropriate summary of the child’s views, without placing the burden of decision-making on the child.

Jenny Taylor is an experienced family support provider, who completes these reports. She has worked closely with the legal community and courts and brings both compassion and clarity to this delicate process. Jenny uses child-centered techniques to build rapport, ensure emotional safety, and provide an honest reflection of the child’s experiences.

Our VOC assessments may be requested by:

  • Parents navigating a high-conflict complex seperation or divorce process

  • Lawyers or mediators looking for neutral third-party insight

  • Judges seeking to better understand the child’s lived experience

Voice of the Child Assessments are billed at $350.00/hour, and include interviews with the child, consultations with parents (individually), and report writing following court legal procedures.
