Unlicensed Mental Health Support

About Comfort

Comfort is a compassionate and dedicated marriage and family counsellor committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s emotional and relational challenges. She believes healing begins within a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard, valued, and respected. Her approach is collaborative and client-centred, allowing clients to move at their own pace while feeling supported every step of the way.

Comfort holds a Master of Counselling in Marriage & Family Therapy from Canada Christian College, a specialized graduate program that provides focused training in relational healing, attachment, family systems, and couples therapy. Unlike many counselling programs that offer general mental health training with limited family or couples specialization, Comfort’s academic background is specifically designed to support the unique dynamics that arise in marriage, parenting, blended families, and intergenerational relationships. This specialized preparation allows her to work with clients not only as individuals, but also within the relational systems that shape their lives.

Her training integrates evidence-based and faith-informed perspectives, offering thoughtful and holistic care for those who value spiritually integrated counselling. She works from a trauma-informed framework and tailors therapy to each client’s unique needs, goals, and lived experiences.

Comfort draws from a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Gottman Method Therapy

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Family Systems Therapy

  • Expressive Arts and Play Therapy

Comfort has provided counselling to supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Her work focuses on helping clients process trauma, strengthen relationships, shift unhelpful thought patterns, and build practical coping skills that foster long-term resilience and emotional well-being.

Her professional background also includes supporting children and families through Alberta Government’s Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program, where she collaborated with families and multidisciplinary professionals to promote developmental goals and community participation. She has also worked in child development and childcare settings, supporting children’s emotional regulation, learning comprehension, creative expression, and healthy development. Experience that strengthens her ability to connect with children and youth in therapy.

Comfort is currently awaiting approval from the College of Alberta Psychologists, where her formal education is being evaluated so she may register as a Provisional Registered Psychologist.

At this time, she is offering services at an unlicensed mental health therapist rate of $100.00 per 50-minute session. Please note that this rate is not eligible for insurance reimbursement. Once her CAP approval process is complete, anticipated in early summer 2026, her rate will transition to a provisional psychologist fee.

If you are looking for a Christian-informed therapist for your child, youth, yourself, or as part of your couples journey, Comfort would be honoured to support you. Please reach out to book a free 20-minute virtual meet-and-greet to see if she is the right fit for your needs.
