About Jenny

Registered Clinical Social Worker | Family & Co-Parenting Specialist

Hi, I’m Jenny, a Registered Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most complex and emotional transitions.

I’ve worked across healthcare, crisis intervention, emergency departments, family court, and community mental health, and I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can feel when life becomes uncertain, relationships shift, or conflict takes over. My approach is grounded in compassion, safety, and respect, offering a non-judgmental space where you can feel supported, understood, and empowered to move forward.

How I Support Clients

I work with individuals navigating a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
  • Relationship struggles and unhealthy dynamics
  • Separation, divorce, and high-conflict co-parenting
  • Family restructuring and communication breakdown
  • Parenting disputes and boundary setting
  • Life transitions and personal growth
  • Domestic violence and coercive control concerns
  • Youth 13+ and adults for individual therapy

I have a particular passion for supporting parents who are trying to co-parent during separation or divorce. especially when conflict feels ongoing or emotionally exhausting. Together, we focus on creating healthier communication, stronger boundaries, and a more stable environment for both parents and children.

Expanded Areas of Support

In addition to my work with families, I also support individuals with the diagnosis, support, and treatment of ADHD. I am committed to supporting neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism, and addressing general mental health concerns. I have a growing area of interest in somatic approaches, including Hakomi, which integrates mindfulness and body-based awareness into the therapeutic process.

Specialized Expertise in Family Court & Co-Parenting Support

I bring a rare depth of experience from my work within Alberta’s Family Court and provincial intervention programs. I have:

  • Conducted crisis and safety assessments for families in conflict
  • Supported parents through dispute resolution and parenting coordination
  • Facilitated court-related processes and family law interventions
  • Helped separated parents reduce conflict and focus on children’s well-being

In my past role as Brief Conflict Intervention Program Coordinator with the Government of Alberta, I spearheaded the re-implementation of a provincial court-based intervention resource for high-conflict separated and divorced parents. This work emphasizes child development, emotional safety, and best practices across Canada.

Voice of the Child & Child-Focused Family Support

I have a special interest and training in working with children and youth, including completing advanced professional development in Meeting With Children through the International Centre for Children and Family Law.

I am passionate about helping families incorporate the child’s voice in a developmentally appropriate and emotionally safe way, and I have experience in:

  • Voice of the Child reports
  • Child-focused family restructuring support
  • Parenting interventions with child well-being at the centre

Therapeutic Approach

My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and practical. I draw from evidence-based modalities including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behvioral Therapy Strategies
  • Mindfulness-Based Strategies
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Trauma-Informed Care

Together, we’ll build coping tools, explore patterns, and take meaningful steps toward clarity, balance, and healing.

Domestic Violence & Safety-Informed Practice

I have extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence and am committed to safety-focused, trauma-informed care. I am also honoured to present on:

  • Domestic Violence Screening in Family Law: Why It Matters and How to Do It Well

I am a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and bring deep knowledge of family law systems, coercive control dynamics, and protective interventions.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

Whether you’re feeling stuck in anxiety, struggling through separation, facing co-parenting challenges, or trying to rebuild peace in your life, I’m here to help you move forward with confidence and support.

Together, we can work toward greater calm, stronger boundaries, healthier relationships, and lasting change.

Book a Session with Jenny

If you’re looking for compassionate, highly experienced support, especially in the areas of co-parenting, family conflict, separation, unhealthy relationships or emotional overwhelm, I would be honoured to work with you.

            PLEASE NOTE:

Couples sessions are not appropriate for surprise disclosures (e.g., announcing a decision to separate for the first time in session). If you are planning to end the relationship and want support with that conversation, individual therapy may be a better fit. I can support you 1-on-1 for individual sessions.
