About Jenn
A Functional, Strengths-Based Approach to Real-World Challenges
Jenn Parker is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who brings a wealth of real-world experience and a deeply practical, functional approach to her therapeutic work. Her focus is on the actual person in front of her, not on generalized guidance. She is dedicated to helping individuals and families not only navigate their current challenges but also build a personalized “mental health toolbox” of life skills for a more resilient future. Central to her practice is the conviction that every person already possesses strengths; her role is to help uncover and enhance them. To ensure the highest standard of client care, Jenn practices under the supervision of a senior Registered Psychologist.
Two Decades of Front-Line Experience
Before pursuing her MA in Counselling Psychology, Jenn spent 20 years on the front lines of community and family support. Her extensive background includes roles as a Child and Family Services worker with the Alberta Government, a Family School Liaison, an in-home crisis counsellor, and a support worker in mental health group homes. This hands-on experience provides her with a rare and valuable perspective, grounding her clinical work in a deep understanding of the systemic pressures, family dynamics, and crisis situations that people face every day. It allows her to move beyond theory and offer strategies that are realistic, empathetic, and effective.
Your Unique Toolkit: An Integrative Therapeutic Method
Jenn’s therapeutic philosophy is straightforward: provide the right tool for the right job. She recognizes that each person’s context is unique, and a one-size-fits-all approach is insufficient. She operates from an integrative model, skillfully blending evidence-based techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. This allows her to create a customized therapeutic experience that is responsive to your specific needs, helping you re-frame your experiences, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and focus on practical solutions that build momentum toward your goals and long-term self-reliance.

Specialized Areas of Practice

1. Sport & Performance Psychology: Building the Complete Athlete
As the head of Level Up’s Sport and Performance branch, Jenn works with athletes, parents, and coaches at every level of competition. She helps them build a crucial understanding of the direct relationship between mental resilience and performance outcomes. Her unique approach focuses on the entire ecosystem around the athlete. She equips players with mental tools to overcome performance anxiety, establish effective goal-setting frameworks, and build the resilience needed to achieve those goals. She also coaches parents and teams to foster a positive, motivating, and sustainable environment. Jenn helps strengthen the crucial relationships within the support network, recognizing that this is the foundation for an athlete’s long-term success and well-being.

2. Children & Families: Empowering Parents, Supporting Children
Jenn’s work with children and families is centered on a parent-coaching model. She recognizes that parents are the most powerful agents of change in a child’s life. Whether a family is navigating the complexities of ADHD or the emotional turmoil of separation and divorce, Jenn focuses on equipping parents with the understanding and functional strategies to effectively support their child. She provides concrete tools to help interpret the communication behind a child’s behaviour and foster healthy self-regulation, building a family’s collective reliance. This empowering approach ensures that support continues long after the session ends. Jenn also facilitates the “Resilient Roots Group,” a specialized program providing a safe space for children coping with family separation.

3. Remote & Rotational Worker Support: Navigating Two Worlds
Jenn offers a highly specialized and essential service for individuals in remote, camp-based, or rotational work, with a focus on serving Fort McMurray and surrounding northern areas. She has a keen understanding of the immense stress that comes from managing “two lives”—the collision of a high-pressure work environment and a separate home life. Through flexible, conveniently-timed virtual sessions, she provides a dedicated space for clients to address the unique challenges of this lifestyle, from relationship strain to personal identity and burnout.
