About Amanda
Amanda Melnik is a registered occupational therapist with over a decade of experience in mental health and neurodevelopmental care. She holds a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta and has supported individuals across the lifespan with complex needs and multiple diagnoses involving developmental conditions, mental health challenges, and behavioural communication differences. Her experience spans acute care, rehabilitation, forensics, and community outreach. She is recognized for her strengths-based practice and deep commitment to meeting individuals where they are in their journey.
Amanda is known for her sensory-informed, trauma-sensitive, and recovery-oriented approach. Her clinical work is grounded in a comprehensive understanding of the psychological, social, physiological, and environmental impacts with neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges. Her work includes coaching in emotional regulation, sensory, interoception, compassion fatigue, and burnout, with a focus on enhancing daily functioning for those with autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and complex diagnoses.
Amanda has contributed significantly to service development and is deeply passionate about leadership and mentorship. She has led interdisciplinary teams, supported peer development, and continues to mentor emerging occupational therapists. Her commitment to collaborative practice, evidence-based interventions, and capacity building is central to her identity as a clinician and leader. Amanda’s work with families, community agencies, schools, and healthcare systems reflects her holistic, systems-oriented approach to health and wellness.
Beyond her professional role, Amanda finds joy in spending time outdoors with her husband, daughter, and golden retriever, exploring new cafes, and staying active through recreational sports. She is guided by values of authenticity, empathy, and a strengths-based philosophy—supporting each person in their unique journey toward meaningful occupations.
