I graduated with my MA in Counselling Psychology in December 2022 and received my Registered Provisional Psychologist designation in July 2023 after practicing for several months as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. I have approximately 20 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and adults within community and school-based settings to address many diverse and complex challenges. Throughout these years I have developed an interest in areas like supporting children and parents in navigating ADHD, separation and divorce support and sport performance. As both a professional and a parent I believe in the need for all individuals to have a connection that allows them to feel heard, understood and supported.
I look to build therapeutic relationships based on understanding the individual’s strengths, and skills they already possess. I want to work with you to enhance these qualities through an integrative therapeutic approach built upon respect, trust and validation of your experiences allowing you to set and achieve your goals.
My previous work with children and families has been focused around understanding behavior and emotions while working to develop tools and strategies for self-regulation. Using this approach to meet both children and parents where they are at and assisting them to understand what emotions and behaviors are attempting to communicate.
I am interested in techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy as well as work in Mindfulness and Self-Regulation. I am not anchored to any specific approach and want to work collaboratively to meet your needs, understand your goals, and build upon your strengths.
Jenn Parker Specializes in Sports Performance!
Young athletes often focus on aspects of physical fitness and training as the key to performance success within sport. However, sport today is just as much about mental strength and mental wellness as it is about the physical expectations we have for ourselves. Working from a perspective of increasing growth mindset and emotional regulation in an approachable and relatable manner we work to increase an athlete’s belief in their abilities and investment in resilience which allows them to weather all of the highs and lows experienced within competitive sports.
Using modalities such Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Growth Mindset and Goal Setting we can assist young athletes to increase their mental strength and belief in themselves which in turn increases overall performance at any age and is the building block to success in sport performance that crosses over into everyday life.
Sport Performance interventions can occur on an individual level or through a team approach and can be customized to the needs and goals of either the individual athlete or the team as a whole.
